Downton Abbey, Dreams, Sniffapalooza Wishes & Weekend Plans

In the past 19 hours of my life, I have finished the first season of Downton Abbey. I am waiting to see how twitchy I can get before I search for ways to watch the second season for free or break down and buy it on iTunes as it is not available on NetFlix. I think my favorite characters are Lady Sybil, Mr. Bates, Anna and the Dowager Countess  (everything she says is somehow made better by the fact that well...it's Dame Maggie Smith Saying it).

During one episode, the Lady Mary (who I roll my eyes every time she speaks) was wearing a read dress and dabbing on some perfume. I couldn't help but wonder, "what were their fragrance options?" Looks like it's time for a little fragrance anthropology on my part. (Wait...wasn't there an article written recently about this or am I dreaming?)

Speaking of dreams. Remember not too long ago when I posted about the fact that I JUST KNOW that I'm going to be a manta ray in my next life? Well, night before last I had a dream that I WAS a manta ray, and my best friends were a sea turtle and a narwhal. Clearly, my trip to the aquarium in a week cannot get here soon enough!

Hey there buddy!

Sniffapalooza's Spring Fling is this weekend in NYC. I REALLY wish I could go, but it's just not in the cards. Next one, y'all! I PROMISE! (But someone PLEASE snag me a sample of something good!)

Instead of that goodness, here's what I plan on doing for my weekend...

Today: Hoping my latest bunch of samples come in the mail, cleaning, teaching and then cleaning some more because the apartment is starting to resemble a Frat House...just not empty kegs.

Tomorrow: Bagel replenishing, work and then dinner with a friend at one of the few T accessible Mexican Restaurants. Being that it is  Cinco de Mayo on Saturday, this could be either a very good or a very bad idea. What say you Non Nordic Avocado?

Sunday: With all luck the weather will be nice. Because who wants to get dressed in a presentable fashion to go to a nice store and then go outside and it be craptacular out??!! BOO! I'm planning on going to the Hermès to sniff the Hermessence fragrances, along with some leisurely sniffing at both Saks and Barneys. Maybe even a little solo brunch al fresco is the weather permits. That'd be lovely. Or a picnic on the Long Wharf or in the Public Garden.

Have a great weekend, all!

  1. If you haven't been yet, you must get tacos at Dorado in Brookline. By far the best tacos I've had in the Boston area, and cheap too. I also love Ole in Inman Square for more high-end Mexican. Neither is particularly T-accessible though....

P.S. I LOVE LADY MARY. And while it was on, you could watch Downton Abbey on PBS.com, not sure if that's still true.

    1. Looking at it on the map, I have walked past Dorado DOZENS of times! It's really not far from me as I'm in Brighton. Perhaps I'll put on real shoes and go grab some for dinner, but I think laziness shall prevail. Plus my frog socks are really cute! Oh lord...I just taught a clarinet lesson in frog socks. Nothing says "I really know what I'm talking about" like frog socks.

      Thank you for the recommendation!

You can have your Lady Mary, and I'll keep my Lady Sybil. :-) It's not available on PBS.com anymore, I checked. Sad.

    2. Make sure to order a zucchini red pepper taco when you go -- improbably good!
