I Recommend Biting Off More Than You Can Chew to Anyone....

*Current Perfume: A mix of Dirty Perfume layered over Vanillary Solid from LUSH
*Currently Listening: Army by Ben Folds Five (I made the most awesome all over the map play list today, 168 of Kathleen loved gloriousness!)

Alanis, once again...you are right,  you angst ridden muse of my teenage years, you! (I also listened to Jewel a lot, but she was more for crying than for angst.) You are wise, wise, wise....

You live you learn
You love you learn
You cry you learn
You lose you learn
You bleed you learn
You scream you learn

I recommend biting off more then you can chew to anyone

I certainly do
I recommend sticking your foot in your mouth at any time
Feel free
Throw it down (the caution blocks you from the wind)
Hold it up (to the rays)
You wait and see when the smoke clears

Granted, this seams to be a tad dramatic for a perfume blog, but SOMETIMES....every ONCE and a WHILE....I can be dramatic too! (Yes. Shocking. I know.)

Sitting down to work on the ten state epic, that was the Super Tuesday Edition of the Perfumed Primary Project, about 20.28577551% of the way through the post, I started to get VERY anxious and panic-y, shut the computer and walked away. Not good. Not good! Just as there is no crying in baseball, there is no panic in perfume. (Well, at least in the world according to Kathleen.)

I'm planning on posting what I wrote until my freak out, because I was quite fond of a lot of it, but first...some life lesson time.

No matter how much I want to be, I am not Wonder Woman. Well, not in the Lynda Carter "even my bracelets have super powers" sort of way. How I AM wonder woman, is that I'm able to say, "Whoops! Not Right! Re-evaluate!"

You see, finding fragrances I actually like, and were excited to write about for all 50 states a A LOT harder than I had bargained for. That, plus my new found love of coming up with exciting things for Musical Mondays, plus offering my two-sniffs to The Scents of Self Top 20 Project (which I'm learning a GREAT DEAL from, but plan on slowing my pace), I was finding little time and energy to follow my where my curiosity and my nose took me. No Disassemble Charlie No. 5 was starting to feel tedious and like a "job", I mean...trust me, it's "work", but in the fun sense of the word.

If I kept at the pace of sniffing and trying to review things that I just needed to be plugged into a category, then how am I going to ever get a chance to sniff things I can't wait to get my nostrils on? Things like Andy Tauer's Une Rose Vermeille, Etat Libre d'Orange's Jasmin et Cigarettes, Providence Perfume Co.'s Cocoa Tuberose, and Opus Oils' Charm!? (Just to name a few)

So, tomorrow I'll try and post the remainder of the Perfumed Primary Super Tuesday Edition, but for now....enjoy what I did write!

Rewinding back to Tuesday......

*Current Fragrance: Paris by Yves Saint Laurent
*Currently Listening: The Power of Love (I'm watching "The Voice" from last night.)

Super Tuesday at a Glance

O.K., enough of the political stuff! (Nonetheless, go vote - it's your civic duty. Be proud that you have that right!) O.K., seriously - enough of the political stuff...now onto state flowers and perfumes! There is no way that I can do this installment of the Perfumed Primary Project in the way that way I want to (TEN STATES!) in one post without it being the most EPIC BLOG POST EVER; so I'm going to great it up over two days. Five today, five tomorrow.

"Delighted to meet you, sir. Overjoyed, enraptured, entranced. Are we ready? Yes, good. [On] we go."

The Last Frontier
The state flower of Alaska is the Forget Me Not. Sadly, I couldn't find a perfume with Forget Me Not as a note. So, I decided to use some sass and snark! Thanks luckyscent for having this descriptor of By Kilian's Cruel Intentions: "meant to bring forth the concept of pleasures of the flesh…a Parisian orgy of the senses...a mix of earthly desires and defiance of prohibitions and conventions (so you know these aren’t simpering, fresh little forget-me-nots)."

Forget Me Nots - So pretty!

Cruel Intentions smells starts off smelling like sophisticated citrus at the start (the bergamot and the orange blossom) and then goes all rugged campfire (agarwood, Indian papyrus, Haitian vetyver, & castoreum), but not in a "Dude. Shower Soap" kinda way. It's more of a pull me in tighter and protect me from the Momma Grizzlies sort of way. (I would really love the candle of this one!)

Cruel Intentions and my beloved Liaisons Dangereuses are marketed as being all about the pleasures of the flesh. In the case of Cruel Intentions: those pine cones are gonna hurt, careful for the poison ivy, you'll be finding pine needles in places where pine needles just don't belong....but damn it was worth it! Just make sure he cooks you s'mores after.

All aboard! We're leaving on that midnight train to Georgia...

Peach State / Empire State of the South
The Cherokee Rose serves as the state flower of Georgia. Since there are so many different state's that use different types of roses as their state flower, I decided not to split rose petals (so to say) and just decided to find scents with rose notes in them that seamed to embody the state to me.

Cherokee Rose
For Georgia I decided to go with Gucci's Flora. It's a sharp floral, and completely devoid of "powdery-ness". EauMG really nailed down what I was looking for when talking about the EDT versuses my much loved EDP of Flora. I rather like the clear rigidness of it. (For the record, it was the last full bottle of perfume I purchased before starting No Disassemble Charlie No. 5). I really love the way that this is a floral that is crisp and distinct. The mix of peony and pink pepper is fun here. In a world of main-stream froo-froo-florals...well, I find it to be the cubist Picasso to many other fragrances Impressionist Monet. I think this is why I like it and purchased it when I was visiting my family and just needed to buy some "pretty floral perfume." I'm not all dainty and floral and stuff...it's...OK, it's this...

Real Housewives of Atlanta's NeNe Leakes Flower Powers It Up!
I feel you NeNe, you can be tough, fem. and rock some florals (olfactory or textile) all at the same time!

This is the actual Flora print done by Gucci. Very clear and in focus. OK, maybe not cubist, but can your eye maybe smell what I'm saying?

The Gem State
With a nickname like that, it's all I can do to not burst into this song! TRULY OUTRAGEOUS!

***And that ladies and gentlemen is where I got totally frustrated!***
